Dear friends, supporters and followers of Jeevika Festival,
I am happy to update you about the 10th edition of Jeevika: Asia Livelihood Documentary Festival (29 August to 1 September 2013) to be held at IHC, Delhi.
I take this opportunity to cordially invite you to be present at this 4 days festival to watch documentaries and interact with filmmakers in understanding issues that highlight livelihood freedom through unheard voices and untold stories.
We have received 98 documentaries for the competition section. The evaluation process has shortlisted a record 30 documentaries to be part of the Official Selection. In addition to this we would be screening 6 GE Focus Forward Films of 3 minutes each highlighting Innovation & Ideas under non-competitive section.
The final program schedule will be emailed to you next week and will be featured on our website. www.jeevika.org
In the backdrop of the Jeevika Festival, a set of sessions would bring together interested stakeholders to discuss and identify policy measures and reforms needed in the following key aspects of Livelihoods in India: 1. Regulatory reforms needed in the Bamboo sector, 2. Do we have the right policy framework for skill development in India yet?, 3. From Swatantrata to Azaadi: the road to Economic Freedom
For greater reach out beyond filmmakers, CCS in partnership with Delhi Photography Club is launching a Photo Contest this week and 40 shortlisted photos would be exhibited at IHC Experimental Gallery on theme ‘ Way of Life & Livelihood’ during the 4 days of the Festival.
Additionally, we are supporting a new initiative ‘Poverty Cure’s International Short Film Festival’ in New York for Dec 2013, by promoting the call for entry in India and waiving submission fee of all short documentaries through Jeevika. x.vu/PCFF
The Award Ceremony at Stein Auditorium on 1 September, Sunday (7pm to 8:30pm) we would be having a musical performance to mark the 10th edition on the title: A life in music, a livelihood in music? (Traditional music has being an increasingly difficult livelihood option. Vidya Shah – Musician, researcher and composer will discuss through an illustrated talk and musical performance about the challenges and celebrations through the lives of remarkable women musicians and the times they lived in.)

Entry is free (Seating on First-Come First-Served basis) for all screening and related programs at the festival.
